my model beach house

During the summer holidays my Dad and I made a model beach house out of wood.
Here are some pictures of it.

We chose a design that would be suitable for a lifeguard station and raised it on stilts to allow for the rising tide.

We started by drawing pictures of the design, then we drew the design onto a large piece of wood and cut it out. Once we had done that, we put together the main building and the roof using glue and pieces of dowel to hold it together. Next, we connected the railings to the base and connected the base to the main structure. Lastly, we spray-painted it and made the ladders for the sides.

  1. What a wonderful construction

Elegant clean lines reminiscent of the Californnian life guard huts. So influential are these huts that Frank Gehry himself incorporated one into a design of Norton house.

Your design offers panoramic views (essential for life guards), easy access both left and right (thus ensuring unobstructed views) as well as ample shade from the cruel midday sun thanks to the angled roof which extends over the deck. The railing too ensures that inhabitants cannot slip of fall as well as offering a place to rest drinks and feet whilst reclining.

    Excellent work.

  3. Can I just say- wow! What a great project and what a great dad! I know some beaches in Australia would benefit from such a great viewing structure for the life guards. Just great work! Well done!
